Mayor declares footbridge at Chiswick Rail Station open

The pedestrian footbridge over the railway lines at Chiswick Station has been reopened with much fanfare.

Local resident Jane Faust was instrumental in organising an ‘official opening’ with the Mayor of Hounslow, Chiswick Riverside councillor Amy Croft and owner of the coffee van Damian Wojnarowski.

Damian has lost quite a lot of business throughout the six month closure, so was gratified to see it back in service.

The footbridge was closed to be repaired at the beginning of August last year. As Network Rail realised it was more dilapidated than they anticipated, it was removed from the station to be mended off site.

Grove Park residents

Graham Holley from the Grove Park Group residents association told The Chiswick Calendar:

‘The Grove Park Group is delighted that the Chiswick station footbridge has at last re-opened. The refurbishment was necessary, but residents have been inconvenienced for far too long. It was good to see the community coming together to organise and celebrate the opening, supported by the mayor, local councillors and the police – many of whom had shorter journeys home.’
