Move into Wellbeing®
Volunteer Chiswick: Move into Wellbeing
Move into Wellbeing is Chiswick- based charity which provides unique and specially crafted weekly dance, movement, and exercise classes for people with Parkinson’s and other mobility restrictions, some of whom are elderly. The dance and movements in the classes are especially important for co-ordination, flexibility, balance, and other qualities conducive to improved management of daily tasks that may be difficult. The classes also bring personal enjoyment and relief and aim to advance social interaction not only for the participants, but also for their carers and thus form the centre of a vital community network. They are the only organisation to be offering this programme in the area.
This local charitable organisation was conceived and founded by Chiswick resident Donna Schoenherr in 2014. Donna, a former professional dancer, founded Chiswick- based Ballet4life.com® 15 years ago. Her father had Parkinson’s for 30 years and Move into Wellbeing® is dedicated to him and is a living legacy to his life, courage, and strength. MiW was “Commended” Charity of the Year in the Hounslow Business Awards 2018, and recently was a recipient of the prestigious Atul Pathak Community Award 2019.
Their unique weekly dance classes are devised and run by Ballet4Life.com, using specially trained and experienced teachers. Two classes per week take place in St Peter’s Church Hall on Southfield Road, Chiswick W4 1BB and they also run two weekly classes in Brentford at the Danehurst Activity and Resource Centre, TW8 as part of the Hounslow Over 60s Activities Programme. They have a wide reach with people travelling to their classes from Ealing, Hounslow, Acton, Hammersmith, Brentford, Richmond and Twickenham.
