Mulberry Cancer Support to celebrate 25 years with Chiswick Gala ball

The charity is marking its anniversary with an evening of dinner, live music, dancing, an auction and raffle at the Clayton Hotel

Mulberry Cancer Support is marking its 25th anniversary with a gala ball in Chiswick, bringing together supporters, local businesses, friends and members of the community for an evening of fundraising and celebration.

The ball will take place at The Clayton Hotel Chiswick on Saturday 26 September, with guests arriving from 6.30pm. The evening will run until 1am, with the dress code listed as black tie.

Tickets cost £89 and include a welcome drink, three course dinner, live entertainment, a charity raffle and a grand auction. Music on the night will include live entertainment from Ronnie Scott’s Rejects, followed by a DJ and dancing, with auction and raffle prizes and further surprises promised throughout the evening.

The gala forms part of Mulberry Cancer Support’s 25th anniversary celebrations. For 25 years, the charity has provided free, confidential support to people affected by cancer, including people with a diagnosis and their families and carers. Its services include counselling and emotional support, complementary therapies, practical information and advice, support groups and a range of wellbeing activities.

The anniversary year has also included an Open Day at the charity’s Centre in Isleworth on Tuesday 8 September. Visitors were able to learn more about the support available and take part in taster sessions including qigong, watercolour painting, aromatherapy and acupuncture. The event was attended by the Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Ranjit Gill, and the Mayor of Richmond upon Thames, Councillor Nancy Baldwin.

Councillor Gill said he was “totally impressed and amazed” by the work of the Mulberry Centre, adding that he was particularly moved by the support offered to people going through “such difficult and emotional times”.

“It takes a very special person to listen to people’s sadness and grief and offer them the support they need,” he said, describing the centre as “simply wonderful”.

Mulberry says its anniversary year is an opportunity to celebrate its history, the people it has supported and the staff, volunteers, supporters and partners who have helped make its work possible, while encouraging more people across local communities to access its free services.

Tickets for the ball need to purchased by midday this Friday, and you can do so here.
