Man arrested in connection with death of one woman and injury of another

The police have said a 48-year-old man was arrested at the scene of a stabbing on Askew Road on the border of Chiswick and Shepherd’s Bush yesterday, on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

A woman, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene after the police were called at 8.19 am.

A 32-year-old woman was also taken to the hospital having suffered stab wounds. She remains in hospital and her injuries are currently being assessed.

The man who was arrested was also taken to hospital and later discharged into police custody.

Detective Inspector Richard MacKenzie, who is leading the investigation, said:

“Our enquiries continue at pace as we work to establish the full circumstances of this deeply tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the victim and injured woman.

DI MacKenzie further added:

“We believe this to be an isolated incident within a residential address.”

The police are encouraging anyone with any information, CCTV or doorbell camera footage which could support the investigation to contact them.
