Napoli on the Road retains title of Best Pizzeria in Europe bar Italy

For the third year running, the Chiswick pizzeria has won top award for best pizzeria in Europe, outside of Italy

Chiswick’s Napoli on the Road has once again brought home the top prize at the 50 Top Pizza Europa 2026 Awards.

Founded by pizzaiolo Michele Pascarella, who originates from Maddaloni near Naples, Napoli on the Road in Devonshire Road opened as a permanent pizzeria in Chiswick in 2019 after starting their journey in 2016 as a three-wheeled Piaggio truck that travelled London’s many street markets.

Michele has now opened branches in Richmond and, most recently, at 140 Wardour Street in Soho as well.

Over the past few years, the restaurant has received many accolades. In 2023, they were awarded World’s Best Pizza by 50 Top Pizza for their Ricordi d’Infanzia (Childhood Memories), a Neapolitan style pizza topped with beef ragù, Parmigiano Reggiano fondue and basil.

Michele has also been awarded World Pizza of the Year 2023 by 50 Top Pizza, and and Best International Pizza Maker 2024 by the Accademia Nazionale Pizza DOC.

The Devonshire Road restaurant has now automatically been entered into the running for the 100 Best Pizzerias in the World, alongside the rest of the top 20 restaurants in the Europe ranking, which will be announced on Tuesday, 15 September at a ceremony held at the Teatro Mercadante in Naples.
