Type of restaurant remains a mystery with applicant promising “something new”

A planning application has been submitted to open a large restaurant on Chiswick High Road at the site of the former Indian restaurant Republic, which closed in late 2023 and the former premises of  Pizza Perfect next door.

Both locations currently hold premises licences, which will be surrendered if a unified licence is granted for the combined site. KSMV Properties Limited has submitted a premises licence application for 299-303 Chiswick High Road, without disclosing the business’s name.

In January, KSMV Properties Limited received the premises licence for 299 Chiswick High Road, mirroring the terms of the Republic restaurant’s licence.

According to the application, the venue will function as a restaurant and bar, with permission to sell alcohol on-site and for takeaway. Live and recorded music will be confined to the basement, which may also be available for private hire and events.

The proposed operating hours are 9am to 1am Sunday to Thursday, extending to 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays, with last orders 30 minutes before closing.

“The late licence is intended solely for pre-booked private functions”

Several objections were raised against the January application, citing concerns over noise and potential anti-social behaviour. Nearby residents sought assurances that the venue would not become a nightclub.

Addressing these concerns, a representative of the applicant stated that the late licence is intended solely for pre-booked private functions, and the venue will not operate as a live music venue. The seven-day licence aims to provide flexibility for bookings, with events restricted to the basement, ensuring no noise would reach local residents.

When queried about the cuisine at the previous licence hearing, the applicant said the details were confidential, with various options under consideration, promising it would be ‘something new’.

Currently, there is no indication of the restaurant’s type at the location.

The deadline for representations on the application is 25 June, to be sent to licensing@hounslow.gov.uk.
