Fundraiser launched for Brian Constance almost reaches target in few days

Around £3,000 has been raised for the family of Chiswick resident Brian Constance, who died last week after collapsing on Turnham Green. The 48-year-old man died in Charing Cross Hospital on 12 January.

The police are continuing to investigate the cause of death, describing the circumstances as ‘unexplained’.

His friend Jonathon Murphy organised a GoFundMe campaign aiming to cover some of the travelling costs of Brian’s family, who live in South Africa. The money is also being used to cover funeral and memorial costs.

At time of writing the fundraiser had secured £2,932 out of its £4,000 target

“Brian was a vivacious and colourful person”

West London Queer Project, of which Brian was a member, shared on Instagram:

“It’s with great sadness that we share the devastating news that our dear friend Brian passed away on Sunday the 12th of January.

“Brian was a vivacious and colourful person, full of life and energy. As a friend he was always reliable, loyal and very kind. He was the life and soul of every party.

“Many of you will have met Brian through WLQP and we have been overwhelmed by the love and support that you have shown since he went missing on Sunday.

“We unfortunately don’t have any details of the cause of his passing at this stage but we will share any information when it becomes available.

“A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday the 1st of February from 2pm (venue TBC). Thank you.”
