Four people sentenced for crimes in Chiswick and two more arrested

The Metropolitan Police have recently launched ‘Met Engage’, to inform Londoners of what they’ve been doing in their neighbourhood. Police Sergeant Gareth O’Donnell posted on Wednesday (6 August) they had carried out two recent arrests in Chiswick and received the results of several court hearings.

Man arrested for indecent exposure and sexual assault

PS O’Donnell reported Chiswick police had arrested a man for various offences including indecent exposure and sexual assault.

‘PC Storey and myself have been working to link together a series of offences where lone females have been targeted by a male making unwanted sexual comments and acts around the Chiswick, Acton and Wandsworth area.

‘Today (6 August) we arrested a 32 year old male from Chiswick for various offences including indecent exposure and sexual assault’.

A man and a woman found guilty of theft and sentenced to Community Orders

Chiswick police also recovered a large amount of stolen property from a residential address that had been stolen from Chiswick High Road. A 65 year old woman from Chiswick was sentenced to a Community Order including ‘rehabilitation activity’.

As part of Operation Automotive earlier this year, a 49 year old man was arrested for ‘motor vehicle interference and going equipped to steal’. He was found guilty at court and given a Community Order including 180 hours of unpaid work.

A man and a woman receive suspended sentences for shoplifting, another man arrested for theft

As part of a shoplifting operation on the High Road, a man and a woman were arrested in possession of nearly £2,000 of stolen clothing from a local shop. Both were charged and remanded to court where they received suspended prison sentences.

Another man has been arrested and charged with theft:

‘As part of a plain clothes operation a suspicious male was stopped on a bike and searched. He was found to be in possession of stolen items from a local shop and was also wanted for theft of a mobile phone. He was charged and remanded for court’.

Increase in thefts from vehicles

Chiswick Police say they have seen a sudden sharp increase in motor vehicle break-ins across Chiswick.

‘A very high percentage of offences are when bags are left on display in the car. Please ensure yourselves and any visitors do not leave valuables in your cars or any bags on display, even an empty bag left in the car will potentially cause the vehicle to be targeted.

‘If you see any persons on eBikes wearing face coverings or balaclavas acting suspiciously in the area then please call 999 to report it’.
