Rate of Covid infection in Chiswick continues to decline

On the Covid front, there’s good news and bad. The good news is we’ve gone a reassuring shade of green on the Government’s data map, meaning that most of Chiswick is now in a lower category of infection than we were at the beginning of February. In January each of the six areas of Chiswick was showing infections in double figures. In the seven days to 24 February and teh week before that, all areas have been in single figures.

The bad news is the green is surrounded by a sea of blue, signifying a higher level, and that in LB Hounslow as a whole the rates are still among the highest in London.

Highest death rate in January since April 2020

Chiswick has also seen a high rate of deaths from Covid in January, the last month recorded by the Office of National Statistics. The number of deaths from Covid in January was 16, by far the highest number of deaths since April 2020, when 24 people in Chsiwick died from the disease.
