West London Welcome, the charity which helps refugees, asylum seekers and migrants settling into life in west London, is moving into new premises and needs help furnishing it.
West London Welcome operates in Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea, and Ealing. Their new premises are in Hammersmith.
“We are excitingly just about to open our new community space” says Deputy Director Leyla Williams, “and would be very grateful for any physical or cash donations to make it look beautiful and feel like home for our members.
“We are a registered charity and welcome local people from refugee and migrant communities who are isolated and in need of support – particularly those who have just arrived in the area. Every week we provide English classes, creative activities, legal advice, outings, food and friendship.
“If you’d like to support us, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any of the following items to donate”:
Large, colourful rugs
Tables and chairs
A full commercial or domestic kitchen if anyone is pulling theirs
Deep double sink

How best to help them support refugees
The charity, (registered charity number 1183261), is experienced at supporting refugees, having provided support for Syrians, Africans from various countries and elsewhere before. While the most recent refugees from Afghanistan are still being held in quarantine in hotels around Heathrow, they are expecting some to be housed temporarily in hotels in and around Chiswick and Hammersmith.
Items needed for newly-arriving refugees include essential items (nothing broken that needs repairs):
Adapter plugs for use in UK
Phone chargers (complete cable/plug combos for all brands of phones)
Pens, paper, blank notebooks
Toiletries (ALL NEED TO BE NEW) (*means most needed):
Shampoo, shower gel
The charity does not give out its address for fear of attacks by far right groups. The best way to contact them to offer things is by email.
