First of three phases of development starts work on 195 homes for rent

Housing Secretary Steve Reed visited the construction site on Bollo Lane on Wednesday (4 March) to break ground on the joint project between TfL’s Places for London and Barrett Homes, which will ultimately deliver 900 new homes, half of which will be ‘affordable’ housing intended for lower income families.

The ambitious £365m development will create a long ribbon of new development alongside the Piccadilly line tracks, making the area between Acton and Chiswick much more built up.

The work will take place in three phases, delivering nine buildings ranging from four to 25 storeys in height.

  • Phase 1: 195 Build to Rent homes
  • Phase 2: Around 450 homes for rent and sale
  • Phase 3: Around 250 homes (still subject to approval)

The developers say new workspace and retail spaces will create new employment opportunities for local people and leisure spaces for new and existing residents, and new commercial space will be available for businesses. They also promise public space with green areas, play spaces, new footpaths and improved cycling facilities.

Completion of the first phase of building is expected in late 2028 and leasing is scheduled to start in late 2028 or early 2029.
