Spaces available in Chiswick Brownies

There are spaces available at 3rd Chiswick Brownies for for the first time in years.

Brownies take part in lots of different activities including going along to camps, holidays, day trips and sleepovers. They get together with their friends at regular meetings where they learn new hobbies, get creative, develop skills and have outdoor adventures.

As well as trying new activities in their meetings, girls choose from interest badges related to things they want to know more about.

Chiswick’s Brownies meet on Mondays in school terms, 5.45pm to 7.00pm, costing £30 per term. The meeting venue is at Scout hall just behind the Pilot Pub on Wellesley Road. Ages 7-11.

At the moment, there are 10 spaces available.

Volunteers and young leaders ‘always needed’

Daisy Baldwin, a Girl Guides volunteer, told The Chiswick Calendar extra volunteers are always welcome.

She said:

“We have spaces available on Mondays but not Tuesdays, just to be really clear! We don’t want anyone to disappointed. We always need extra volunteers across all our sections. So we’ve got two Brownie units, one Guides unit and one Ranger unit. Anyone who wants to help with kids, we’re always looking for helpers.

“We’re not desperate right now, we have enough to be compliant but many hands make light work and all that.

“Another thing is with young leaders, if there are any kids doing their Duke of Edinburghs or anything like that and they need volunteering hours and they’re 14-18, then the Monday night Brownies would love to have another helper.

“Our volunteers don’t have to be women; our volunteers can be anyone, but the kids have to be girls… Also we’re trans[gender] inclusive!”.
