The Steam Packet pub on Strand on the Green, whose owner Food and Fuel went into administration at the end of March, has been bought by pub company Brunning & Price and is set to reopen on Friday 31 July.
The Roebuck, which was also a Food & Fuel pub, is also in the process of being bought by the same company, though at time of writing (7.00pm Monday 20 July) the paperwork had not been signed.

Ian Slater, Operations manager at Brunning & Price told The Chiswick Calendar that of the 11 pubs previously run by Food & Fuel, four had been bought by Market Taverns group and Brunning & Price were aiming to secure five, including the Steam Packet and the Roebuck. Brunning & Price is a subsidiary of The Restaurant Group plc (as was Food & Fuel) which includes Wagamama and Frankie & Benny’s in its restaurant division. Brunning & Price owns 78 pubs, mainly in rural settings, including the Mute Swan at Hampton Court.
“It’s been a turbulent six months” he said. “We’re very pleased to have secured the Steam Packet. It’s a great pub with great people and Strand on the Green is a lovely area”.
They’ve had to start from scratch creating social media accounts and a new website for the pub, but they are pleased to say their Head Chef has returned.
“Head Chef Vincy has been working hard on the new summer menu, we will be showcasing the very best in traditional pub dining.
“The menu spans small plates, light lunches, classic mains, delicious puddings and sumptuous Sunday lunches”.
The Steam Packet will be open from 5.00pm on Friday 31 July.
