Strand on the Green flasher
Steam packet pub at Strand on the Green
Suspect now back in custody pending court hearing
A flasher has been reported at Strand on the Green.
The Chiswick mums Facebook group is circulating this from the Riverside ward group, posted on Thursday:
‘Yesterday around 4pm, we were confronted with a flasher, across The Steam Packet. We called the police, they acted immediately and caught him outside the local Sainsbury’s by Kew Bridge.
‘The police came for a statement and confirmed they had taken him into custody and that he also had a knife on him. This morning the police called and confirmed they had it all on CCTV.
‘Unfortunately, the police called back tonight with bad news. The flasher has been released, a decision by CPS. This despite they have full evidence of yesterday’s incident – the actual flashing – on CCTV, him carrying a knife and our witness statements.
‘Even worse he has a track record already.
‘He is of Indian heritage, slim built, 6ft tall, mid 40s, wore a short red checked jacket’.
The police have confirmed to The Chiswick Calendar this morning that they did arrest a man fitting that description but had to release him without charge because the CPS wanted them to make further enquiries.
He did not have a knife, Sgt Gareth O’Donnell told us, but they have rearrested him this morning for breaching prison release conditions and he is now in custody and will go to court today.
On the flashing incident, “we are confident of securing a charge”, he said.
