Strand on the Green – the inspiration of painters and photographers for decades

For the Platinum Jubilee on Sunday 5 June the Strand on the Green Association organised a party and ran photography, art, poetry and limerick competitions. The winners were announced and their work read out by one of our greatest actors, Dame Eileen Atkins, who happens to live on Strand on the Green.

Here are the winning photographs in the Photography competition Under 19 category.

Winner

The winner of the Photography competition Under 19 was Freya in year 5H at Strand on the Green Junior School with the photograph of the railway bridge above.

Runner up

Freya was also runner up with this picture of the beached boat. The quality of the two photographs as they appear here is grainy, as Freya entered them as photocopies. Strand on the Green party organiser Lucy Cufflin told us:

“I actually think that has added a sort of charming 1950s quality to them.”
