Tabard Pilgrims Cricket Club seeking new recruits

Local Cricket team The Tabard Pilgrims are looking for new members to join their ranks. Based at the popular Tabard pub in Chiswick, the Pilgrims are Sunday afternoon team with friendly fixtures nearly every week throughout the season between May and September. They are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year.

All of their games are ‘away’ as they have no home ground of their own, however, since their inception in 1996 they have built up a fixture list featuring some of the most attractive grounds in the Home Counties and west London. The Pilgrims also occasionally have a short foreign tour, which they plan to return to return to when the pandemic eases.

‘We are moving forward as a club and on the lookout for new talent, both as active players and socially’ Creative Director Ricky Plows told The Chiswick Calendar.
‘We have a double header against Chiswick CC soon and it would be great to meet some new potential players and fans there. They are on the 22nd and 29th August.’

They include a broad spectrum of abilities in all their sides. According to their website, ‘the first priority is the spirit of the game and this is enshrined in our constitution.

There is also a strong social element to the club. In addition to their annual dinners, the Pilgrims will often congregate in the patio garden of the Tabard after the game on fixture days.
