Annie’s restaurant has come up with a novel way to beat the coronavirus restrictions. Owner Lorraine Angliss prides herself in creating an atmosphere in her restaurants where customers can relax and feel at home. Being chucked out at ten o’clock before you’ve had a chance to consider the dessert menu doesn’t really chime with the vibe which has become her usp. So to encourage diners not to be put off by the curfew she’s launched a ‘take your pudding home’ campaign.
“We are sorry that due to government rules we must close at 10.00pm” she says. “It’s not always convenient for you, we know that. So now you can take home Annie’s desserts and wines all packaged to go with you, so you can continue a little bit of Annie’s at home”.
Most restaurants will give you a box to take home something you’ve ordered but not been able to eat, but this clever marketing makes a virtue of it. She hopes that this way people won’t be put off eating out and she can still sell enough covers to make keeping the restaurant open viable.
