Friday 15 September 2023 – Ardal O’Hanlon, Viggo Venn, John Fothergill and Alexandra Haddow

We have two tickets to give away for this Friday’s Headliners comedy club at George IV (Friday 15 September). Headliners have a very impressive line-up of stand-up comedians this autumn, including Harry Hill (who is already sold out) and Rainer Hersch.

Ardal O’Hanlon is a late addition to this weekend’s line-up, so there are still tickets available, but he will sell out quickly.

To be in with a chance of winning the pair of tickets we have to give away, answer the question at the bottom of the page. The first person to send the correct answer to our question to info@thechiswickcalendar.co.uk will be the winner.

The Irish comedian who found fame with Father Ted in the 1990s, founded the International Comedy Cellar in Dublin, along with Kevin Geldea and Barry Murphy at a time when the city had no comedy scene at all.

He was spotted by Graham Linehan, who cast him as the clueless Father Dougal McGuire alongside the longsuffering Father Ted, and in 1995 he received the Top TV Comedy Newcomer at the British Comedy Awards for the role.

He has since moved into straight acting, appearing in television series and in the theatre, and written a novel The Talk of the Town. He appeared in Death in Paradise, taking the role of DI Jack Mooney following Kris Marshall’s departure, and took part in the 13th series of Taskmaster.

Most recently he has appeared in Extraordinary, a superhero comedy series which premiered internationally on Disney +, and The Woman in the Wall, a six-part BBC One mystery drama starring Ruth Wilson and Daryl McCormack, about a woman who wakes up to find the dead body of a woman in her house.

The good news for us though is that he is still doing stand-up comedy as well.
