The Chiswick Calendar Media Club
The Chiswick Calendar runs a Media Club in the Wellesley Room of the Pilot pub in Wellesley Rd. Open to all, journalists and non-journalists alike; anyone who likes getting stuck in to current affairs debates. Chaired by experienced journalists, the interviewee or panel of experts explore the issues which face journalists in reporting the news.
BBC journalist Julian Worricker invited Channel Four’s Dispatches editor Louisa Compton to discuss with Daily Mail journalist Peter Oborne whether journalists still do ‘real journalism’. Broadcaster Jamie Coomarasamy talked about what it’s like reporting Russia with Channel Four News producer Nanette van der Laan and academic / author / journalist James Rodgers.
Film producer Rob Sprackling talked about what it’s like pitching film scripts in Hollywood and Rebecca Vincent from Reporters Without Borders told Julian Worricker about the dangers faced by journalists around the world. The BBC’s Jo Coburn will be talking to Gina Miller, who took the Government to court over Brexit and won. Date of that event to be announced soon in The Chiswick Calendar newsletter.
