Three men jailed for £1.1 million jewellery robbery in Richmond in 2024

Robbers jailed for total of 51 years for ‘audacious robbery’

Three men have been jailed for a total of 51 years for robbing a jewellers in Richmond two years ago.

Kyle Mehmet and another man visited the luxury watch shop on Kew Road on 25 May 2024 pretending to be buyers. They booked an appointment but when they got inside the shop they tied up member of staff, 27-year-old Oliver White from Surrey, and filled a rucksack with £1.1 million pounds worth of luxury watches.

Oliver took his own life the following day.

Detective Constable Tom Waller, who led the investigation from the Met’s Flying Squad, said:

“Throughout this investigation Oliver has been in our thoughts and we have remained committed to securing justice for his family. His death is a tragic reminder that crimes such as robbery have a significant impact on victims”.

The police recovered CCTV from the jewellers and by working back they were able to identify the car the men had arrived in from Acton. Along with phone data, officers used this evidence to link the two men to three others they believed had been involved in planning the robbery.

A jury convicted three of the men of conspiracy to commit robbery at Woolwich Crown Court in February of last year. On Friday (6 February), the three men were sentenced at the same court and jailed to a total of 51 years.

Mannix Pedro, 38, who organised the robbery, was jailed for 20 years, Kyle Mehmet, 40, was jailed for 18 years, Michael Holmes, 35, was jailed for 13 years.

Detective Constable Waller said:

“This was an audacious robbery that was several months in the planning.

“Due to the dedication and excellent detective work of our officers, we were able to track these dangerous criminals down and bring them before for the courts”.
