Wellesey Road, Grove Park and Chiswick Family Doctors announce merger
Three GP practices in Chiswick, Wellesley Road, Grove Park, and Chiswick Family Doctors, have revealed their plans to merge. The trio will combine their resources under the banner of the newly formed ‘Chiswick Medical Practice’.
Announcing the merger on Thursday (14 September) via a text message sent to registered patients of the three practices, patients were informed about the proposed merger, outlining the benefits they can expect.
The merger, set to streamline and optimise services, promises patients access to a broader range of clinicians, nursing staff, and healthcare assistants. The three practices anticipate offering increased appointment availability, more proactive care, reduced call queues, and improved handling of requests.
Despite the merger, patients will still have the option to be seen by their regular GPs and clinical staff. A single unified website will be launched to provide patients with comprehensive information about Chiswick Medical Practice and its array of services.
Grove Park Surgery currently caters to 8,640 registered patients, according to its current website, and employs seven doctors. Wellesley Road serves 7,843 patients with six GPs, while Chiswick Family Doctors Practice looks after 4,593 patients and has three doctors. With the merger, the combined practice will be managing the healthcare needs of approximately 20,000 people.

Rumours have circulated among some existing patients that this merger might be a precursor to consolidating the practice within the upcoming health centre on Dolman Road, scheduled to open in 2025. But the Practice Manager at Chiswick Family Doctors has dispelled these speculations, saying current plans for the new health centre at Fisher’s Lane do not include consolidating the three sites into one.
Chiswick Family Doctors Practice is currently operating from a temporary location on Stamford Brook Road and will eventually transition to the new facility. Chiswick Health Practice and West4GPs also relocated to Stamford Brook but will remain as separate practices.
Earlier this year, Wellesley Road Practice marked the retirement of Dr. Burbridge, who had served the community for 35 years. It has been suggested that some doctors within the merged entity are contemplating retirement as well.
To gather feedback and comments on the merger proposal, patients from each practice have been encouraged to visit a dedicated link provided for their input.
