Two new multinational companies open headquarters at Chiswick Business Park

Japanese pharmaceutical company Chugai and Chinese automotive company Omoda Jaecoo rent space at Chiswick Park

Revantage Real Estate, the asset manager established by Blackstone, has announced it has signed 50,000 square feet in new leased and lease extensions at the Chiswick business park.

Among the new businesses coming into the park are Japanese pharmaceutical company Chugai and Chinese automotive company Omoda Jaecoo. Chugai has taken 5,000 sq ft in Building 4 for its UK and European headquarters, while Omoda Jaecoo has signed for 10,000 sq ft, also in building 4.

Chungai is among the pharmaceutical companies pioneering weight loss drugs. The company celebrated its centenary last year and is now part of the global pharmaceutical company Roche. One of its best-known success stories is the invention of Roche’s blockbuster hemophilia drug Hemlibra (emicizumab).

Omoda and Jaecoo vehicles manufactured in China are sold through the Auto West London dealership which opened in Chiswick last April, beside Hogarth Roundabout.

The Jaecoo 7 is one of the top selling cars in the UK market – coming third after the Ford Puma and the Kia Sportage.  So far this year Jaecoo have sold 20,695 new cars, compared with Ford Puma sales of 24,358 and Kia Sportage sales of 21,274.

The company launched its new Hybrid Jaecoo 8 model in March, which ‘looks like a cut-price Range Rover’ according to motor trade experts.

Jaecoo is ‘forging ahead with its assault on the UK market’, writes Car magazine‘s deputy editor Luke Wilkinson:

‘Like all Jaecoos, the 8 competes aggressively on value’.

Business park only 80% occupied despite latest lettings

The Chiswick Park campus has won awards for its landscaping and buildings – there are 12 office buildings arranged around a lake in 33 acres of landscaped gardens and the ground staff keep it looking immaculate.

The site managers Enjoy Work call people who work there ‘guests’ and their ethos is to make it an enjoyable place to work, but since Covid the place has been a lot more empty, so this will be welcome news.

The park has 1.8 million sq ft of accommodation in total, nearly a fifth of which is currently empty. Seven of the 12 buildings have whole floors available to rent – building 5 and building 11 each have six floors available.

Among those who have recently renewed their leases are the estate agency Foxtons, a long-standing occupier at the park, which is relocating from Building 1 to 21,000 sq ft in Building 12, and technology company Amdocs, which has agreed a lease extension on the 8,000 sq ft it occupies in Building 4.
