The Pixie and the Pudding starts 6 December

This Christmas Watermans arts centre in Brentford presents The Pixie and the Pudding, a musical adaptation of a Scandinavian folklore tale which combines puppetry, original music, and pixie magic.

Running from 6 – 30 December, the show is available to both school groups and the general public. It returns to Watermans after a successful premiere at the Little Angel Theatre in North London in 2019.

Written by Barb Jungr and Samantha Lane, and directed by Samantha Lane from Little Angel Theatre, The Pixie and the Pudding targets children aged 4 to 11 and their families.

The story unfolds on a farm on Christmas Eve, where the farm animals are asleep, and a tempting pudding sits on the windowsill. When Charlie and her father move to the farm, they encounter a series of mishaps, including a grumpy cow, a scarcity of eggs, and a silent rooster. Their troubles begin when they neglect a mysterious note about a pixie with a taste for Christmas Eve pudding.

Barb Jungr, known for her music and lyric composition, especially her arrangement of Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan songs, which she has performed in shows for Jazz at George IV, is also recognised for her work in children’s and family musical theatre, particularly her collaborations with Little Angel Theatre and Samantha Lane.

Samantha Lane, LAT’s Artistic Director and director of The Pixie and the Pudding said:

“I am so excited that we are taking our beloved Pixie – and all her farmyard friends – to Watermans this Christmas. It’s such a magical, festive story – full of catchy songs and great puppetry. I challenge anyone not to fall in love with this cheeky, hungry little sprite!”

Watermans’ Director Jan Lennox commented:

“Little Angel Theatre bring a wealth of experience and deep knowledge of its audiences and continue to demonstrate that brilliant puppetry is one of the most joyful and inspirational introductions to theatre and the imagination. Watermans is looking forward to welcoming Little Angel Theatre in December.”

Tickets start at just £10 and can be bought through the Watermans’ website.
