West London Queer Project celebrates six years with a street party on Sunday 30 August

Live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food and drink

West London Queer Project is inviting the entire community to join its biggest celebration yet as it marks six years of bringing LGBTQ+ people together with a free Street Party in the heart of Chiswick.

In a celebration of diversity, inclusion and community spirit, the organisers promise a full day of live entertainment, community stalls, family-friendly activities, food and drink, from 12.00 pm – 9.00 pm in Old Market Place, with live entertainment on the main stage from 2.00 pm.

“Our Street Party is our way of giving back to the incredible community that has supportedus over the past six years”, says Founder & CEO of the West London Queer Project Aubrey Crawley.

“It’s a chance to celebrate everything we’ve achieved together, the friendships we’ve built and the thousands of people whose lives have been touched by WLQP. Whether you’re LGBTQ+, an ally, a local resident or visiting for the first time, everyone is invited to come along and celebrate with us”.

On the programme are Diana Vickers, Pearl Does Country, Miss Chanel No.5, Queera Lynn, Luna, Brent Would, Marsha Mallow, Miss Joelle, Miss Darcey Nox … and more acts to be announced soon.

There is also an after party in the Boston Room of Goirge IV from 9.00 pm – 1.00 am.

In a personal note Aubrey adds:

“Chiswick has given me so much over the past decade, and I’m incredibly proud to honour both WLQP’s journey and the community that’s helped shape it”.

Set up during the pandemic to counter the isolation that many people felt, West London Queer Project is a non-profit Community Interest Company driven by the desire to connect, support and give voice to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and other sexual and gender identifying (LGBTQ+) people in West London.

The organisation aims to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people in West London and beyond. It runs a programme of events – everything from drag nights to touch rugby, from health initiatives to parenting advice , in a bid to provide safe spaces, fun and awareness-raising.

Since launching in 2020, WLQP has grown into one of the UK’s largest LGBTQ+ communityorganisations, supporting more than 5,000 members and delivering over 200 activitieseach year.

What began as a small local initiative has become a thriving community thatprovides opportunities for LGBTQ+ people to connect through sport, wellbeing, socialevents, culture and advocacy.

Last year’s Street Party welcomed more than 4,000 people, and organisers are expecting aneven bigger turnout this year.
