Supporting patients and staff

Volunteers have non-clinical roles that make a positive impact and improve the experience of patients using the hospital. Volunteers come from all walks of life and represent the diversity of the communities we serve.

As a volunteer, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of an acute hospital, have the opportunity to communicate directly with patients, and experience working in a team with NHS staff and other volunteers as you help provide a positive experience for the patient.

As well as the difference volunteers make to others, our volunteers often comment on the positive impact being a volunteer has made on their lives. It has helped them gain new skills and experience, meet new friends, improve their self-confidence and motivation, whilst keeping them active and feeling that they have a valuable contribution to make that is greatly appreciated.

More information about the roles available can be found here.
