If you have symptoms of coronavirus, it is important that you get tested. You and your household should also self-isolate and only leave the house to go and get tested. If you are a Keyworker in Hounslow, you are entitled to be tested regularly, even if you do not have symptoms, to prevent asymptomatic spread of coronavirus.

Hounslow’s mobile testing unit will be at 274 Hanworth Road, Hounslow, TW3 3TY, a private car park, on selected days throughout the month of September:

Tuesday 1 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Friday 4 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Monday 7 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Thursday 10 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Sunday 13 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm
Monday 28 September, 10.30am – 3.30pm

This information comes from LB Hounslow’s Coronavirus advice and support pages, which are updated regularly. Hounslow hosts a Mobile Testing Unit every three days. You need to book an appointment online before you go to the site. Appointments are open from 6pm the night before the testing opens e.g. if the Mobile Testing Unit is on a Sunday, appointments open on the Saturday at 6pm. You can book an appointment at the testing site by visiting www.nhs.uk/coronavirus  or by calling 119.

Do I have to go to Heston?

The Chiswick Calendar has received an email from an elderly reader, asking if there are any other alternatives:

‘As I live in Chiswick and as I am considered vulnerable, being over 80 years old and having Diabetes type2, and do not have a car there is no way I am going to be able to travel to Heston. So can you please advise me what opportunities I, and others on my situation, are likely to have for free testing?  For sure there are large numbers of us in Chiswick’.

We asked the council. The answer is yes, depending on your postcode there my be nearer options and you can also do the test at home. The advice is:

When you go to book a test, you will be asked to provide a postcode and other information, like whether you or someone in your household have a car. You will then be provided with what testing options are available for you.

If you need help booking a test, call the Coronavirus Testing Call Centre on 119 between the hours of 7am and 11pm.

The service can be accessed by people with hearing or speech difficulties by calling 18001 119 (in England and Wales).

The different options for testing in Hounslow are:

  • Mobile Testing Units
  • Twickenham Stadium Test Site (drive-through only)
  • Heathrow Airport Test Site (drive-through only)
  • Home Testing Kits
