Which ‘non-essential’ shops are still offering click & collect or deliveries
By Pam O’Toole
Retailers whose shops are deemed “non-essential” (such as clothes, art work and ceramics, books, toys) are still trying to work out how much business they can salvage during the current lockdown. Some, particularly the larger ones, have wholeheartedly embraced click and collect services and/ or delivery services. Other, smaller, operations are more cautious, saying they’ll certainly offer click and collect for the time being, but may change their position if they discover that offering this service jeopardises their chances of getting a Government grant. Some, but not all, smaller businesses are also offering deliveries. See below for details.
Bookshops
Foster Books. This lovely 18th century bookstore on Chiswick High Rd is open for local click and collect and deliveries. Browse the thousands of books for sale on their website. If you can’t see what you want online, they’ll send you photos of what’s available in store. Order online and pick up from outside the store. Local delivery is free.

Cards
Postmark on Turnham Green Terrace maintains that “staying in touch has never been so important”. It’s offering customers alternative ways to purchase its cards, wrapping products and Jellycat toys.
It’s offering a free click and collect service (on Tuesdays and Fridays) and local delivery (for a fee) on Monday and Thursday.
To click and collect, order online, selecting which store you want to collect from, and a pickup time. Knock on the door or telephone to alert staff to your arrival.
Its online store also offers free postage on orders over £15 to both the UK and abroad.

John and the team on Chiswick High Road are offering a home delivery service. However, note that during Lockdown 3, they won’t be offering click and collect.

Homeware and Interior Decoration
Homeware store Greige is still trading online and offering both free local delivery and click and collect. Pauline, who runs the shop with husband John, says:
“ We are offering free local delivery in order to help everyone do their bit and stay at home – we will deliver to the customer’s doorstep, knock and step back whilst the customer takes the delivery inside. If the customer prefers to collect, then at the moment we believe the safest place to collect from is our warehouse where there are very few people around.”
The warehouse is in Cunnington Street, W4 5HB. Greige may also arrange a click & collect option from the shop in Bedford Corner over the next few weeks, depending on demand/duration of the lockdown.

Lin adds; “To express our thanks for everyone’s support over the last year, we have a January Giveaway Offer. For every order placed throughout the month of January over £20, we will be gifting a complimentary silver plated photo frame 4×6 size.”

Interiors brand Neptune is based towards the Gunnersbury end of the High Road. Its website says:

Your local store team is ready and waiting with advice, ideas and any information you might need – be it via email or live chat, over the phone or face-to-face in a video call. We’re here whenever suits you best – during the day or into the evening. And don’t forget, you can also order accessories via our Call and Collect service’.

Cotswold
The outdoor clothing store, Cotswold, is open for click and collect orders. They’ve put up a barrier blocking the door, but say staff can see you if you wave through the window.
Ordering is via the website only. It will give you an estimate of when your item will be ready. This may only be a few hours if the item is in stock in the Chiswick store, or longer if it has to come from the central warehouse. Note, the shop will not be open for exchanges and returns, only click and collect.
Store open for collections: 12.30pm- 6.30pm Mon- Sat, 11am-5pm Sunday

JoJo Maman Bebe
The baby and maternity clothing shop is offering both click and collect and delivery services via its website. Free delivery for orders over £35.
Lizard
Lizard women’s clothing and accessories store on Turnham Green Terrace is also open for click and collect. You can view what it has on offer on the website, purchase items online and arrange to pick them up outside the shop.
The owner, Kambiz Hendessi, is aware that online ordering is not ideal for clothes shopping. That’s particularly true under lockdown conditions when people don’t know when they’ll next have the chance to wear newly-purchased garments. But he’s hoping that Lizard’s upcoming sale, offering 30-50 per cent off many items, will act as an added incentive!

Beleaf
Beleaf on Chiswick High Road, which sells CBD products, is physically closed, but is still operating online for click and collect and deliveries. Marcus Fox, the group Managing Director, sent us this message:
“Customers can arrange a click and collect by calling us. However, we’re also offering free same day delivery to London post codes, so for most customers it’s easier just to order online and let us deliver to you. Customers do need to make an appointment to collect as the store isn’t manned; the appointment can be at any time during our normal trading hours.”
