Air ambulance lands on Acton Common

A person has died after being hit by a train at Turnham Green Underground station on Monday morning (9 January).

The emergency services attended and a London Air Ambulance landed on Acton Common. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

British Transport Police say that they are currently working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

Severe delays on the Piccadilly line continued into the afternoon but Turnham Green Station has been reopened.

Another person was killed at Turnham Green in December 2022, and a number of fatalities have happened at the station in recent years. Piccadilly Line services often travel through the station exceptionally fast as they are not required to stop at the station outside of specified hours of the day.
