Two men banned from Chiswick area for persistent retail theft

Chiswick’s Neighbourhood Policing team have managed to get two offenders who have caused huge problems for shops across Chiswick banned from this area.

The police have obtained five-year Criminal Behaviour Orders on James Joyce and Daniel Ransom.

‘James Joyce of no fixed abode has been banned completely from Chiswick and Brentford East, Hounslow Town Centre and Richmond Town Centre as well as further conditions relating to retail theft such as not wearing hats or face coverings in shops along with having proof of purchase for retail goods.

‘He is also banned from being drunk or drinking alcohol in public outside of a licenced premises’, says Sgt. Gareth O’Donnell in his latest Met Engage update.

‘Daniel Ransom of no fixed abode has been banned completely from the entire Borough of Hounslow. He also has conditions linked to shoplifting and drug usage. We previously obtained a closure order on an address in Chiswick where Ransom was living’.

If they breach their orders they will be shown ‘zero tolerance’, says Sgt. O’Donnell.

The Neighbourhood Policing team also has a number of other Criminal Behaviour Order applications in the process of going through court. The police are sending: ‘a clear message to those that come to Chiswick to commit crime that there will be long term consequences to their behaviour here’.

Suspect arrested for £4k of retail theft

Local police have arrested one suspect for over £4k of retail theft and another who was being aggressive in a shop. He was stopped and searched and found to be in possession of Class A drugs and a knife. Both have been charged to court.

Nine caught for speeding on Sutton Court Road in just half an hour of testing

The police have also been conducting site assessments for speeding operations across Chiswick and Brentford.

One operation on Sutton Court Road caught nine people speeding in the first 30 minutes, including one vehicle doing 36mph in a 20mph zone.

‘Be warned that more mobile speed operations across the area are being planned’, says Sgt. O’Donnell.

They have also been working with teams from Brentford West and Osterley Wards to carry out traffic operations across Brentford and Chiswick. Five vehicles were seized for not having insurance and six people were processed for driving offences.
